This lens, offering the field of view considered standard, was part of the initial 2012 line-up for the X-Pro1. That’s actually the lens I got with the X-Pro1. The maximum aperture of f/1.4 offers a shallow depth of field and comes handy for low light conditions.

The lens is touted as one of the best in the Fujifilm X lineup. As of today it has a design that has aged a bit. It would benefit from weather resistance (WR) and linear motor (LM). According to the Fujifilm lens designers, bringing a linear motor to the focusing system is problematic due to the moving front elements and the size of the lens group to move. This might only be achievable by a redesign of the lens, which would change its characteristics.

Comes with clip on lens cap, a rectangular bayonet mounted lens hood, and a rubber lens cap to fit on. The filter thread diameter is 52mm.

MSRP: CA$799

The closest alternative to this lens is either the XF35mmF2 R WR (CA$539) or the XC35F2 (CA$269), or if you want f/1.4, the XF33mmF1.4 R LM WR (CA$999) which is a little wider, bigger and more expensive.
